While I was Traveling
Mount Fuji, Japan's famous mountain, towers over rolling clouds.
I was lucky enough to spend the last week of May and the first week of June traveling to Japan with my husband and my son. We were with a group of 5 other travelers, led by Koshiki and Kenny of Tanpopo Journeys.
We were on a food tour through Tokyo’s Tzkiji market, Nagano, Matsumoto City, Suwa, Izumi-en in Yamanashi Prefecture and on our own in Kyoto. The tour was wonderful, small intimate group, able to enter small places due to our size. Perfect. The foods were delicious and varied. All were “farm to table” and fresh. The fruits we were offered were clearly “on the vine” until ripe as they were all flavorful and juicy.
We were introduce to butterbur (fuki (ふき) in Japanese), which apparently is helpful for those with migraines and asthma. They were presented as a side and inside buns. Delicious. The sushi was the most delicious and fresh I have ever had! No surprise I suppose on an island with access to seafood all the time. Yum.
More later.
